Avalon Demetri serves as a Grantmaking Operations Associate at Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Philanthropies.

After retiring from a career as a ballet dancer, Avalon earned a BA in sociology from Columbia University. While there, she worked for Community Impact providing educational resources to the residents of West Harlem. She later worked as a member of the research team at American Institutes for Research, where her work focused on support for public schools.

Avalon is a proud CASA volunteer court-appointed special advocate for youth in foster care.
