Jay is a Program Officer on the Education Grantmaking team, where he manages strategic investments in policy and advocacy initiatives focused on advancing high-quality instructional materials, professional development for educators, and increasing the recruitment and retention of Black and Latino educators nationwide. Before joining Schusterman, Jay served as a Program Manager on the Policy and Partnerships team at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, where he managed a portfolio of investments to support education nonprofits focused on educator diversity and technology access. He also worked as an independent consultant, advising education-focused organizations on strategic planning and implementation.
He began his career in 2014 as an analyst with NewSchools Venture Fund and Education Forward DC, where he supported investment strategies to support both traditional public and charter schools in Washington, D.C.
Jay holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master of Public Policy (M.P.P.) with a concentration in Education Policy from the University of Chicago. He was a 2013 Education Pioneers Fellow in Chicago and was a finalist for the Broad Residency in 2019.
