Lisa is the Communications Officer for Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Philanthropies, responsible for communications initiatives supporting the Criminal Justice and Gender and Reproductive Equity portfolios. In this role, she is responsible for amplifying portfolio strategies and the work of grantees through strategic communications, messaging and content development, technical support and capacity building.
Prior to joining Schusterman, she worked at Open Society Foundations where she coordinated a global portfolio of grants and liaised on communications for grassroots Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights organizations, focusing on narrative change and movement-building as strategic levers for change. Prior to OSF, she worked in several other non-profit sectors, including reporting on Latin American social movements, providing social services for homeless women and low-income tenants in Seattle, and coordinating workshops on creative messaging for activists around the world.
Lisa received a Foreign Language and Area Studies fellowship to study Quechua in Peru and at New York University, where she received her Master of Arts in Latin American and Caribbean Studies.
